What am I doing in Georgia?

So what am I doing? What is CGA? What is next? These are all fair questions and I would like to take a brief moment of your time to answer these question.

What Am I Doing?

I am currently attending a Leadership program (CGA) through Adventures in Missions. In this program we have covered topics such as Vulnerability, Humility, Influence, Servant Leadership etc. The program is a mix of classroom lecture, class discussions and activation exercises. I am learning what it looks like to have a deeper relationship with the lord, and have had the chance to evaluate myself and solidify what I believe. Both of these things will make me: a better man, strengthen my faith, and become a more effective leader.

What Is Next?

It is hard to say definitively right now what is next for me. That is only because moving forward there are so many great opportunities. All of the options involve going back out onto the mission field. I can go back as a Squad Leader or move more long term to join a team of people operating a hostel. As a squad leader I would go back out with a group of 18-21 year olds for 9 months or 21-35 year olds for 5 months. Squad leaders help guide the group through the spiritual, emotional, and hectic journey that is the mission field/over seas travel. If I felt called to join a hostel team my obligations would be to help with the day to day operations involved with running a hostel. In addition to those responsibilities I would have the opportunity to witness to backpackers as they travel through. Being with backpackers is something I really came to enjoy while on my race, and I would cherish the opportunity to do that full time.

The future is exciting but I am currently focused on my time at CGA and trying to grow and mature as much as possible. My time in CGA is up at the end of August and I have faith that my next steps will be a little clearer by then. For the time being I am still in need of a lot of financial support. If you feel lead to give you can click the “donate” button at the top of my blog home page. No amount is too small, but I am in need of about $5,000 in the next 6 weeks.

Thank you for reading and your support.
